Who are we?

We are a group of  IIT Delhi students, who believe that there's an urgent need for something to be done with regards to Safety of The Indian Roads.

What are we trying to Do?

Through a petition signed by about 1,00,000 people, we aim to put pressure on the Indian National  Government to put in policies, rules and regulations that would control the scourge of death, disabilities and injuries resulting from  road traffic crashes in India. Please sign the petition and support us.

Why did we start?

The death of 4 our colleagues in a car accident was a brutal eye opener for us. After the tragic incident we were figuring out ideas as to what can be done so that these accidents can be avoided. We were sitting in our class of BML330, the traffic safety course, Professor Dinesh Mohan gave us an idea for a petition to put pressure on the government, the idea felt like a way through which we could make a real difference. A few of us met up with few other professors and brainstormed a letter which we will be sending to the Prime minister of the country as well as the chief Minister of all the states. The letter would contain our sentiments, demanding safer roads and safety policies that are needed to be implemented on an urgent basis.

What's the Blog about?

Through this blog we'll try to update the readers of the progress of the campaign and we will publish articles form various people that justify the need of safer roads.

  1. Well researched post. Good citizenship is key to success here. People speed, horn and overtake in crowded residential areas. Huge investments in policing and infrastructure can to a great extent offset by responsible driving. Not that infrastructure is not needed, but that the situation can be much improved even before that. We have a huge "free" media that just doles out filth, they do some service to the nation by airing safe driving and good citizenship. Our marketers who use filth for advertisements can think better and do something useful to society. Just mentioning some things that can done by citizens themselves, and the market in the spirit of good citizenship and purposeful living, not that the Government should not do its part.
